Support Our Research

The Waypoint Research Institute (WRI) is dedicated to advancing evidence-based mental health and addiction research.

Our researchers cover the full spectrum of mental health research with populations, including adults, seniors, youth, in-patient, out-patient, forensics, addictions, and rehabilitation.

Many researchers also deliver clinical services, upholding the highest standards of ethical, evidence-based assessments, interventions, and treatments in order to advance mental health and addiction research.  Sharing research findings is essential to achieving this, with WRI researchers publishing their findings in respected peer-reviewed journals and presenting at leading conferences.

Your support for research through the Breakthrough Fund will help to share the impact of research and spur new and exciting collaborations that will produce better outcomes for patients and clients across the region.

When you give to any of our research projects, or the Breakthrough Fund, your support will help put discovery into clinical action as soon as possible through:

  • Innovative science and high-quality applied research that aligns with our priority to change lives by leading the advancement and delivery of compassionate and excellent care

  • Partnerships and research collaborations provincially, nationally, and internationally to make positive change for patients, families and communities everywhere

  • Knowledge translation that improves mental health and addiction care in the region and beyond

  • Mentorship opportunities for students and trainees in a unique facility, building a talent pipeline of mental illness and addiction professionals for the future
